Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring to boxing class?

Wear breathable training clothes, supportive shoes and bring a water bottle and towel. We recommend hand wraps and gloves — but if you’re just starting out, we have loan gear available. Most people quickly invest in their own once they build confidence in class.

Are boxing classes good for fitness?

Yes — boxing is one of the most effective full-body workouts for fitness. It combines cardio, strength and endurance into one session. You’ll improve your engine, burn calories, and build lean muscle — all while learning skills that keep training engaging.

Do I need experience to start boxing?

Not at all. Our classes are beginner-friendly, with coaches breaking down stance, footwork and combos in a way that’s easy to follow. Whether it’s your first time or you’ve boxed before, every session is scalable and supportive from start to finish.

Will I be sparring in class?

No sparring. Our classes are non-contact and focus on pad and bag work, partner drills and conditioning. You’ll still get the full benefit of boxing — improved technique, fitness and coordination — without the pressure or risks of combat sparring.

What does a boxing class include?

Sessions typically start with a warm-up, followed by pad work, bag drills, combo training and conditioning rounds. Every class finishes with a cooldown to help recovery. It’s a structured format that trains skill, speed, power and stamina in one go.

Can boxing help me lose weight?

Yes — boxing is a high-intensity, high-calorie workout that builds muscle and burns fat. Combined with good nutrition, it’s a proven way to support weight loss while improving cardio, strength and overall body composition.

Is boxing good for building strength?

Boxing builds explosive power, especially in the upper body and core. It also improves joint stability, coordination and muscular endurance. You may not be lifting weights, but you’ll definitely be getting stronger with every round.

How often should I train boxing?

Two to three times a week is ideal for most people. It gives your body time to recover while letting you build skill, fitness and consistency. As your conditioning improves, you can increase frequency or pair boxing with other types of training.

Is boxing safe for beginners?

Yes — our classes are designed with all experience levels in mind. PTs demonstrate technique clearly, offer modifications, and correct form throughout the session. It’s a safe, welcoming environment to start boxing without pressure.

What muscles does boxing train?

Boxing targets your core, shoulders, arms and legs. It’s a full-body workout that also improves balance, posture and coordination. You’ll feel it in your abs, back, glutes and even your calves — every punch uses your entire kinetic chain.

Can boxing help with stress?

Absolutely. Hitting pads is a powerful outlet. The combination of movement, intensity and focus makes boxing one of the most effective forms of stress relief — helping clear your head and reset your mood by the end of each session.

Is boxing good for cross-training?

Yes — boxing is an excellent cross-training tool for athletes and gym-goers. It boosts agility, cardio, mental sharpness and explosive strength. Whether you lift, run or play sport, boxing can improve your performance across the board.
